Ó³¿ÍÖ±²¥ entrepreneur takes on new role supporting University of Ó³¿ÍÖ±²¥ students

Local entrepreneur and community leader Kyriakos Baxevanis has been appointed as Chair of the School of Business and Law Advisory Board.

16 December 2025

Kyriakos, a proud double alumnus of the university, owns several thriving businesses in Ó³¿ÍÖ±²¥ and Hove, including Nostos restaurant and Little Jasmine Spas and is founder of the collaborative business platform Ó³¿ÍÖ±²¥ Hive. His appointment builds on nearly two decades of involvement with the university, from his own student experience studying business management and taking part in the highly successful Help To Grow programme to creating employment and live business projects for current students.

In his new role Kyriakos will help ensure courses at its School of Business and Law (SBL) remain relevant to industry needs and will champion initiatives that provide students with work placements and internships, mentoring and networking opportunities, and live projects with local businesses.

The SBL Advisory Board is composed of successful entrepreneurs and professional practitioners who share strategic insights to ensure the school's education and research agendas remain relevant. Board members advocate for SBL’s commitment to advancing responsible enterprise and actively create opportunities for students, including essential work experience, mentoring, and research collaborations.

Kyriakos said: "The Advisory Board is about providing strategic insight and acting as a catalyst for impact.

"A priority for me is ensuring that employers recognise the exceptional graduates that Ó³¿ÍÖ±²¥ produces, particularly in law and business management, and actively seek them out. This role is about confirming the school’s identity as a national leader in responsible enterprise and delivering more placements, more introductions, and a stronger external voice for the benefit of both students and the region."

"I would like to see SBL strengthen its identity as a school where purpose, practice and performance intersect. If we do this well, the University of Ó³¿ÍÖ±²¥ will not just prepare students—it will shape the leaders of tomorrow."

Catherine Robinson, Dean of the School of Business and Law, welcomed the appointment, emphasizing its local significance: "Kyriakos is an incredibly influential local leader whose dedication to community-led enterprise perfectly mirrors our school’s values. His insights are vital in ensuring SBL plays a central role locally as an anchor institution for Ó³¿ÍÖ±²¥’s enterprise and visitor economy. This appointment ensures we continue to shape the next generation of leaders who will enrich businesses and society right here in Ó³¿ÍÖ±²¥ and beyond."

The University of Ó³¿ÍÖ±²¥ is accredited by the  – an accreditation achieved by fewer than 6% of business schools globally.

The School of Business and Law has also recently been awarded the Small Business Charter in recognition of its exceptional work supporting local business growth and student enterprise.
