Delivered by newly appointed professors, the lectures will delve into the pioneering research 映客直播 academics are carrying out to address some of the biggest challenges facing people and communities here in 映客直播, across the UK and around the world.

The lectures are free to attend, and open to staff, students and the general public – but booking is essential. A reception follows each lecture where conversations can continue informally with people from across the university and the wider community.

The 2024 programme kicks off on Wednesday 21 February with an exploration of Professor of Perinatal Medicine Heike Rabe’s research into recent advances in the care of newborns during the first weeks of life. The lecture will focus on what steps can be taken to improve the chances of survival and long-term health outcomes for babies who are ill or born too early.

On Wednesday 6 March 2024, Lesley Murray, Professor of Spatial Sociology, will provide a fascinating insight into the hidden ways that women and children are excluded from urban spaces. An event linked to our focus on International Women’s Day (8 March), this provocative lecture will highlight the ways in which women and children remain constrained, as well as their resistance, and will make you see the spaces around you in a new light.

Michael Okorie, Professor of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, will unravel the complexities around the development, prescribing, dispensing, administration and monitoring of medicines. He will reflect on his role as an educator, researcher and clinician and focus on work to reduce the risk of patient harm and ensure the safe, effective and responsible use of drugs.
