Transport in 2030: how will we get around?

Forecasts on what our urban transport system may look like in a net-zero carbon world are to be showcased by Clean Growth UK.

16 June 2020

Clean Growth UK is a business network run by the University of 映客直播, the University of Portsmouth and Liverpool John Moores University.

With the transport sector accounting for 23% of the world’s CO2 emissions, according to the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, cities everywhere are facing up to the challenge of decarbonising urban mobility.

The Future of Transport event on 23 June will bring businesses together on virtual event platform Hopin to network and learn about some of the latest low carbon transport innovations that could impact the way we live and move cities.

The event will feature a diverse panel of speakers from the world of sustainable transport. It will be hosted by Martin Offiah, former professional rugby player and current Business Development Director at Connected Kerb which provides a smart cities platform that integrates both power and data at kerbside to support electric and autonomous vehicles.

Oliver Walker-Jones, Head of Communications at Lilium,Electric Jets, will share the business growth and innovation story of  the world’s first all-electric, five-seater, personal air vehicle. Oliver is responsible for the communication of all elements of the business and has previously been nominated as one of PR Week’s 30 under 30 in 2015.

Andrew Stephens, Executive Director at the Sustainable Shipping Initiative (SSI), will provide a perspective from the maritime sector. The SSI brings together organisations in the maritime sector to plan how it can contribute to and thrive in a sustainable future.

Emilie Hannezo, an Associate at InMotion Ventures, will give insight from the world of finance. InMotion Ventures is the venture capital arm of Jaguar Land Rover that invests millions in companies at the cutting-edge of transport, mobility and travel. Its investments include ride-hailing giant Lyft, self-driving car operator Voyage and outdoor adventure app Fatmap. InMotion invests globally, with half its portfolio based in the US and the rest in Europe – mostly in the UK.

There will also be a keynote speech from the University of Edinburgh’s Hyped, a student society dedicated to accelerating the development of Hyperloop and implementing the technology in the UK.

Clean Growth UK is a national green business network. It helps green companies across the UK to develop new products and services and drive sustainable business growth through connections with universities and regional business support providers.

Tickets are free, plus a £5 donation to sustainable transport charity Sustrans. To find out more, go to .
