Funding awarded for research into the enterprise and employability skills of life sciences graduates

The University of 映客直播 has been awarded funding to undertake research into the enterprise and employability skills of life sciences graduates.

The research aims to identify graduate recruitment challenges for employers and propose a set of recommendations on how universities can address these challenges. The funding has been awarded by the Higher Education Careers Services Unit, a national body specialising in graduate employability.

18 October 2016

The project is being led by Jennifer Wells, part of the Research, Enterprise and Social Partnerships department and a member of the university’s employability and enterprise steering group.

Working closely with colleagues in the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, the Careers Service and the West Sussex Health and Life Sciences cluster, Jennifer will investigate the extent to which mechanisms such as industrial placements, work-based projects and employer engagement in the curriculum, are contributing to life sciences graduates' employability.

Jennifer says; “The contribution that this sector makes to the UK economy is significant. With the university’s internationally recognised School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, it's successful track record in engaging with employers and the support of local partners, there is an exciting opportunity to make a contribution to the national debate on graduate employability.”

For more information about the project, or if you are interested in getting involved, please contact Jennifer Wells, Training & Development Manager (Curriculum) at j.wells@brighton.ac.uk.
