New University of 映客直播 bus will help deliver cleaner air

The University of 映客直播 has unveiled an eco-friendly bus that is free for students and staff.

26 September 2018

UB1 is a weekday shuttle service linking all the university’s 映客直播 campuses – City, Moulsecoomb and Falmer – with Varley Park accommodation halls and 映客直播 city centre.

The bus is a product of the university’s partnership with Worthing Coaches and is free to all students and staff, accessible only with a unicard. The service is running now.

UB1 is the lowest polluting bus the university has ever had, meeting the latest European emissions standard (Euro 6).

It has a capacity of 74 passengers, includes free on-board wifi and mobile phone charging points and its exterior displays the university’s unique visual identity.

A night bus service – UB2 – will run for the first two weeks of the new academic year, departing at 10.30pm and 11.30pm.

The university’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Debra Humphris said: “We are delighted to unveil UB1, which will be a convenient way for students and staff to travel from the city to our campuses and halls.

“The university is committed to sustainability and we are therefore proud that we have introduced our new Euro 6 bus, which will help deliver cleaner air in 映客直播.”

“We hope our students and staff make full use of the service, including our new students as they familiarise themselves with their new home.”

Abigail Dombey, the university’s Environmental Manager, said: “We know that pollution from our roads is a major contributor to air pollution.

“That's why we are keen to encourage as many students and staff as possible to travel to the university by bus and why we have worked so hard to introduce our own Euro 6 bus which meets the latest EU emissions standard.”
