University marks NHS at 70

As the National Health Service turns 70 the University of 映客直播 has paid tribute to this much-loved and valued national institution.

5 July 2018

The university’s School of Health Sciences produces hundreds of graduates every year in a wide range of health professions including nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy, podiatry, public health, occupational therapy and paramedic practice. The university also jointly sponsors  with the University of Sussex in partnership with Sussex Partnership NHS Trust and 映客直播 and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust.

University of 映客直播 Vice-Chancellor, Professor Debra Humphris, who was this week made a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and named as one of the 70 most influential nurses of the past 70 years said: “The NHS is such an important and highly-valued institution that does vitally important work every day of the year. As a former nurse it has been humbling to receive recognition from the nursing profession and Royal College of Physicians in the week of the NHS 70thanniversary.

“I am very proud of the vitally important role that the University of 映客直播 plays in supporting the NHS by developing the next generation of health professionals and through our support of a highly successful Medical School.”

Head of the School of Health Sciences, Professor Paula Kersten said: “The NHS is driven by the enduring values of respect, dignity, compassion and patient-focused care. These values are at the very heart of all of our health courses. We have very close partnerships with local and regional NHS Trusts and many of our graduates go on to work in all parts of the NHS.”

The latest cohort of newly-qualified doctors from 映客直播 and Sussex Medical School will graduate next week at a ceremony at 映客直播 Dome with graduates from the School of Health Sciences graduating at the beginning of August.

The university is also today hosting a ‘Healthy Futures’ forum bringing together over 200 experts from across Europe to showcase the breadth and depth of its health-related research and enterprise activity.
