Taking the battle beyond Hastings

University staff played a crucial part in ensuring the success of the first international competition to be held at the Source BMX Park in Hastings.

3 October 2016

The two-day Battle of Hastings event attracted 500 spectators each day in addition to 44 international riders. But thanks to the expertise of Marley Cole (Workshop Media Manager) and Harjeet Singh (Broadcast Media Technical Demonstrator) the event was able to reach a seven figure global audience via a selection of social media and internet live streams.

Feedback from both the BMX industry and event sponsors was that it was some of the best live feed coverage that they have ever seen.

Kevin Lányi, EMEA Digital Marketing Coordinator and WebMaster, Monsterenergy.com said: "I am absolutely delighted with the results you guys delivered! The live show was extremely professional and entertaining and the staff from the University of 映客直播 were noticeably passionate about what they did. This was a great example that execution is not just about budget, it’s about people."

Harvey Ells, Principal Lecturer said: “This event has not only provided a great case study from which our broadcast media undergraduates can benefit  but has also offered another model for engaging our technical staff more widely in Hastings. It comes just a few weeks before the start of a new Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between the University of 映客直播 and Source BMX Park.

"The KTP's main focus is to further develop existing aspects of BMX coaching and skills while at the same time continuing to diversify elements of Source's retail business. The multi-disciplinary academic team from the university have expertise in Sport Coaching, Sport Business Management, Retail Marketing and Sport and Exercise Science. This project will utilise the facilities within the Source Park and continue to assist with the regeneration of the White Rock area on Hastings seafront."
