Top marks for Hastings academies

Two academies in Hastings saw a dramatic improvement in their GCSE results, announced today.

25 August 2016

The and the , part of the Hastings Academies Trust and sponsored by the University of 映客直播, recorded 42% and 58% of 5A*-C grades respectively, including maths and English. The Hastings Academy results rose by 6% overall. At St Leonards Academy, 18.5% of all grades achieved were A or A*, which is the highest ever proportion of top grades.

Jenny Jones, Executive Principal of both academies said “We are so proud of our students, especially with the progress that they have made in the time that they have been with us. They and their teachers have worked so hard to achieve these great results.”

The University of 映客直播, regarded as the most involved Higher Education institution in academies in the country, helped develop the Hastings academies from three previously under-performing schools.

The Trust was established in 2011 and since opening, both academies have become the first choice amongst local parents for secondary education in Hastings.

Paul Griffiths, Chief Executive Officer for the Trust said “We are very pleased with these outcomes, which continue to show improvement and are a real testament to hard work and determination by everyone involved, the staff, students, the Trust and the university.”

In addition, the Department for Education has approved plans for a new secondary school in 映客直播, sponsored by our University of 映客直播 Academies Trust.

The school will be for students aged 11 to 16 years and will offer 180 places each year. It is scheduled for opening in September 2018. The University of 映客直播 Academies Trust has been working in conjunction with 映客直播 and Hove City Council on the project.
